Goal

This year I want to promote and support many of my favorite charities. Some of these will be personally important, some will be timely based on world events and some may be groups I discover over this year of giving. I hope by creating this blog, donating my daily $5.00 and bringing attention to the cause, I can change the world in a good way. Please consider following my lead by making a donation to any of the groups that resonate with you.

Four Paws: Gaza Zoo Project

The week-long conflict in the Gaza Strip has resulted in thousands of dead and injured. Since the newest outbreak in early July, countless buildings and facilities have been bombarded, affecting not only people, but also animals. More than 80 animals died when a zoo in northern Gaza was severely damaged by air strikes. The twenty surviving animals are finally receiving help: A FOUR PAWS emergency team, headed by Dr. Amir Khalil and local supporters, has managed to deliver urgently needed medicine and food to the remains of the zoo. The team is also restoring the water supply by repairing the pipes.

For more than two decades, FOUR PAWS has consistently and successfully focused on one goal: to help animals who have been abused for entertainment, economic, scientific or other reasons.

We view ourselves as the advocate and champion of those who have no voice of their own, namely animals. The common foundation for this is the respect for all forms of life and the deep conviction that every organism has a right to be treated with consideration and to live a life with dignity that complies with its needs. Animals are sentient creatures and therefore subjectively perceive the world; we as humans bear responsibility for them.

For us, the goals of animal protection, human safety and nature conservation are inseparably linked. We therefore feel a solidarity with all those who use peaceful and legal means to achieve a respectful coexistence with one another and with the environment. We as an animal protection organization seek to contribute our share to achieving this goal.
